Supersize Me!

Here's another project we will be learning how to make in class today - Supersize Snowflake pinwheels.  This project is the entire reason I fell in love with the Supersize Snowflake stamp set featured in the Holiday Mini Collection (which you only have a few more days left to order from).  Needless to say, after I got this set I've found LOTS more to do with it! 

Of course snowflakes require lots of bling!  I used craft ink for the snowflake outline and the small snowflakes on the reverse side of the pinwheel and embossed with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder.  I wish Stampin' Up! sold that stuff and Dazzling Diamonds by the gallon!  The styrofoam balls are covered with glue and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds to give them a frosty, snowy look.

These pinwheels go together so quickly and look wonderful attached to dowels and grouped together for a centerpiece or they could be used for ornaments or attached to gift bags.  Let your imagination run away with you for uses for these sparkly, fun pinwheels!

Punchin' Snowflakes

This is another project we will be making in my class on Saturday.  I cased this card from Fran Sabad using the technique by Donna Mills on Splitcoaststampers.  I fell in love with this technique as soon as I first saw it.  All it takes is some vellum, tag punches, adhesive and a little patience!  I stamped my vellum with White StazOn for a little added bling!

Stamps:  Holidays & Wishes, The Snowflake Spot, So Swirly Jumbo Wheel

Cardstock:  Shimmery White, Brocade Blue, Vellum

Ink:  White StazOn, Brocade Blue

Accessories:  Jersey Ribbon Originals, Tag Punch, Small Tag Punch, 1" Circle Punch, Ice Circle Rhinestone Brads, Dimensionals

I loved the way Fran had turned the snowflake into a poinsettia simply by changing the colors, so I decided to give it a try.  Once again, I stamped the vellum with White StazOn, but then I brayered the back of the vellum with Real Red Classic Ink to give it a slight red color.  To give the center of the poinsettia texture, I covered the More Mustard card stock with Terrifically Tacky Tape and some small glass beads.

Snowflakes in Red, White and Blue

This card is one of the cards we will be creating in my Technique Class this weekend.  The focal image is created with the Marker Wash technique which I got from Patstamps Technique Junkie Newsletter.  Each newsletter is chock full of fabulous techniques.  If you aren't a subscriber, I highly recommend it.

Wrappin' It Up!

Some time ago I purchased a Shelley Octagonal Case from my friends at Eclectic Paperie and  put it aside waiting for the inspiration on what to do with it. 

A couple of weeks ago I finally broke down and purchased some of the wrapping paper Stampin' Up! has in the Holiday Mini Collection.  Boy, am I glad I did.  This wrapping paper is a wonderfully heavy quality paper that not only can be used to wrap gifts, but can also be used for cards or other projects where you would use Designer Paper.  I had my inspiration.

I covered the box with Celebration Designer Wrapping Paper.  I adhered some icicles made from Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter around the edge of the lid.  To create these icicles you draw a heavy line of Crystal Effects on wax paper and pull down icicles from your line.  While still wet, sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds Glitter on your icicles, then set aside to dry overnight.  The following day, simply peel the icicle strips off the wax paper and adhere them to your project with Crystal Effects.  I covered the edge of my icicles with 5/8" Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon and some red glittery dimensional "Ho Ho Ho" ribbon I purchased from Michael's last year. I added a strip of Whisper White card stock around the bottom of the box that I had stamped with the Jumbo Snow Wheel in Bashful Blue ink.  I added some Sticky Strip along the top and bottom edge of this border and embossed with Hologram Highlights Embossing Powder and applied Waterfall Stickles to the small snowflakes for more sparkle.

  I stamped the images from Punch Pals on Shimmery White card stock with Black StazOn ink and watercolored them with Watercolor Wonder Crayons and an Aquapainter.  To replicated the polka dots in the background, I punched the images out with the 1-1/4" Circle Punch and matted them on circles of card stock punched with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch.  Each image is accented with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.  I applied a large dot of Candy Cane Stickles between each focal image to help tie them together.  To finish off the lid, I created a bow from 5/8" Old Olive Grosgrain and 1/4" Real Red Grosgrain.

Autumn Harvest Fun

I love the Autumn Harvest set from the Holiday Mini Catalog.  All of the images in the set are perfect for various coloring techniques.  I also love the fact that this set includes a jack-o-lantern face so you can create Halloween projects as well as using the images for general fall projects.

Accessories:  Apple Cider DSP, various Stampin' Write Markers, Aquapainter, Antique Brass Hodgepodge Hardware, Natural Hemp Twine, Ticket Corner Punch, Dimensionals, Distressing tool

To do the coloring, I used Stampin' Write Markers and the Aquapainter on Watercolor Paper.  This gives such a rich look. 

For the scalloped border under the focal image I stamped a series of round images from the Wanted set and cut around them.

Here's another Autumn Harvest card done using the same coloring technique.

This card uses the same card stocks and ink as the previous card.  The sentiment is from All Holidays and the card is embellished with twill from Jersey Ribbon Originals and has two Jumbo Antique Brass Eyelets that have been set using a Crop-A-Dile.
